Our Philosophy
To provide a safe and nurturing environment for children. To foster children's natural love of learning in an atmosphere that promotes social, physical, emotional, spiritual, and cognitive development of a young child. Also providing group experiences which contribute to the well rounded development of children. Our program is based on developmentally appropriate curriculum where learning takes place through active exploration.
The Genesis preschool program operates under the policies established by the constitution and by-laws of St. John's Lutheran church. Enrollment is open to children of all faiths, races, and ethnic origins.
Our Curriculum/Educational Format
Every
child is looked upon as a special gift from God. Here at Genesis, our teachers
and assistants provide safe and developmentally appropriate environments that
encourage children to explore and discover. Social, emotional and spiritual development
occurs as children are loved and guided by adult role models (staff) and
interact with other children within the classroom. Research has proven that
young children learn best when they can be actively involved in the learning
process. Our curriculum includes weekly/monthly study topics, where children
can dig in and explore, using their senses to learn. Small and Large group
activities as well as one-on-one time with the teacher, promote growth in all
areas of development, including social/emotional, fine and large motor,
language, cognitive, music and movement and art.

Our History
Genesis Preschool developed out of a ministry called Mother’s Morning Out, which is a program that took flight with the help of some very inspired people who believed there was a need in the community, and Saint John’s could meet that need. Our very first class in 1998 had only fourteen students. The next year it grew to twenty-two. In our fourth year we added a Pre-K class, and in our fifth year we moved to the preschool wing where we are currently located. Being owned and operated by a church allows us to teach the children about God and how much God loves them. Jesus loves the little children, and so does the congregation and staff at Saint John’s Lutheran Church.
Staff
*Our teachers all have years of experience in the field of early childhood.
*All staff are certified in first aid, CPR/AED administration and mandated reporter training.
*All staff have all state mandated clearances.
The safety of our students is extremely important to us. All of the outside doors throughout the building are locked at all times. Teachers man the doors for preschool drop-off and pick-up times. Anyone who arrives before or after drop-off or pick-up can ring the bell by the church office to gain access to the building. Outside visitors are required to sign in upon arrival and sign out before departing.
